Safety - Things to consider when setting up a display.
The purpose of this section
is to give you some idea about what to consider when choosing
to hold a display. Since the type of fireworks you choose and
the exact nature of your preferred location can vary considerably,
by far the best solution is to arrange for us to visit the location
and discus your requirements is greater detail. In the meantime,
here are a few helpful pieces of information that will help you.
As entertaining as they are, fireworks are still explosives,
and need a suitable safety distance between them and spectators.
A good venue is one that ensures that the minimum distances are
met, but extra space is an advantage.
You can see from the diagram that there are several zones (areas)
that are required to safely launch a firework display. All the
zones are determined by the nature and type of fireworks to be
used. The larger the firework or shells used, the greater the
distances between each zone.
Between the safety and fall out zones is where your fireworks
will be set up. This is known as the firework zone.
Remember the old saying "what goes up, must come down".
This is especially true with fireworks, which can create a huge
amount of fall out. A special zone to the rear of your fireworks
is essential to catch this debris safely.
There should be no overhead obstructions such as trees or cables.
These can deflect the flight of a shell or rocket.
For bigger displays try and situate the firing area where there
is good access. this serves to help us get our equipment onsite,
ut also allows safe entry and exit should the need arise.
And finally, if you plan to hold a display in or nearby to a residential
area, then it may be wise to warn the locals perhaps even invite
them!. Then they can ensure their pets are safe and inside and
any elderly people will not be alarmed.
